Paul George, who competed for the Bulldog men's
basketball team from 2008-10 for two seasons, will travel to New York City for
Thursday night's 2010 NBA Draft in Madison Square Garden.
George, who has worked out for NBA teams over the past
month, is expected to be drafted as high as a lottery pick (first 14
selections) and could become the fifth Bulldog drafted in the first round of an
NBA Draft. George would join Melvin Ely,
Fresno State's highest overall pick when he was taken 12th overall by the Los
Angeles Clippers in 2002, along with Chris Jefferies (2002), Courtney Alexander
(2000) and Bernard Thompson (1984), as former 'Dogs selected in the opening
round.
The former Bulldog standout averaged 16.8 points and 7.2
rebounds as a sophomore while he recorded Fresno State's best single season
performance at the free throw with a 91 percent clip (120-132). George's athleticism was featured as the No.
