For the third straight year, the WAC football preview is being held at Salt Lake City's Hilton Airport in.
The kickoff to the football season each year can many times be linked to the annual media days. The WAC Preview kicked today and the Big 12 media days are being held Dallas. Last week, the SEC took center stage in Hoover, Ala.
Media day is a gathering of all of the coaches, selected players and all of the media that cover college football. They take over a hotel and in the lobbies, conference rooms they chat football. Talk centers around the upcoming season and a variety of issues in college sports. It's a time when the coaches and media can actually spend time talking about the sport they love. During the season, deadlines are looming and coaches don't have as much time to devote to the media as the media members would like.
The stressors of the college season take over for the student-athletes and coaches, so this low-key setting is generally a fun event. In years past coaches and media members have played golf together and there have been some highly competitive card games in the evening.
Pat Hill and senior All-WAC defensive end Chris Carter are representing Fresno State at this year's event. Some of the other key WAC players here are: Kellen Moore, QB, Boise State; Colin Kaepernick, QB, Nevada; Greg Salas, WR, Hawaii; Duke Ihenacho, S, San Jose State and Nate Enderle, QB, Idaho.
Fresno State, Boise State and Nevada coaches and student-athletes will do all of their interviews Monday afternoon.
