Just Being Frank: I Scream

Greetings loyal readers!  Before beginning any of my normal rants on life, telling anecdotal tidbits on foreign countries, or quoting song lyrics from the 80's, I am humbled to issue a SINCERE thank you!!!  Por que you may ask???  I have recently been informed by the person directly responsible for the creation of this blog, Women's Basketball Sports Information Director Steve Schaack, that we currently have the honor of being the most read blog on gobulldogs.com!

As I ponder how long it will take the committee from Nobel to take notice and bestow deserving trophies and accolades, I am saddened by the recent news that Steve Schaack, the aforementioned innovator of "Just Being Frank" will be departing Fresno State for an Assistant Athletic Director position at Idaho State.  Steve and his family have been a blessing to our program and we will miss them immensely!  We wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you on the road in Boise and Logan!

We've all heard the old adage when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.  As we grieve the departure of the Schaacks, we feel the perfect opportunity to help us move on with a smile on our faces, cheer in our hearts, and love in our bellies is to attend our 3rd Annual Ice Cream Social hosted by the Hoop Club.

The event is being held this Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the University House located at 4411 N. Van Ness Blvd. beginning at 6 p.m. Free Ice Cream Sundaes and Root Beer Floats will be on hand for all to enjoy.  Additionally, the entire women's basketball team and staff will be in attendance to meet with anyone willing to come say hello to us.  The price is definitely right for the economy as entrance is free and open to the public.  President Welty will be on hand to say a few words and The Hoop Club will officially kick off their annual membership drive.  Rumor has it that Time Out, members of the cheer and dance squad, along with the directors of the Junior Bulldog Club will be in attendance to insure a good time will be had by all!

All this talk of ice cream is making me hungry!  Actually, it makes me think of gelato.  When thinking of gelato, only one thing can possibly come to mind . . . JERSEY SHORE!!!  I mean, come on people!  Is there anything  more riveting, more thought provoking,  or filled with more substance than the shows Snookie, JWoww, The Situation, Pauly D, Vinnie, Sammi Sweatheart, Ronnie, and that other cast member I refuse to name bring to our television screens each week?  I'm amazed at how they can continually co-exist under one roof with no one remotely bearing a semblance to stability or even in the realm of being considered a mature adult?

Even more astounding is the fact that one living quarter that size can handle so much hair product without being sealed off as a biohazard for a 3 mile radius!  Okay, so you're not allowed to tell anyone else this, but if I had to break down our staff, Wigs is totally Pauly D (hair obsessed, makes his own ipod playlists for team meetings, and loves to fist pump), Sajo is JWoww (strong willed and when clothing stores have sales they go to her closets to fill their shelves), and AP is the Snooki (wants to do hair, try acting, writing, always laughing at herself and others).  Don't forget, that last part is just between you and me!

So you now know one of my greatest "guilty pleasures."  I'm pretty sure it's not fair that I'm the only who shares the tiny, many times embarrassing, parts of life we attempt to keep on the DL.  I've always been told it's who we are when no one is looking that makes up our character.  Well, I'm not sure what type of character this group of people has, but I can assure you after reading their responses we're full of characters!!!

With that being said, I welcome you to the 1st Annual Fresno State Women's Basketball Guilty Pleasures List.
