To mark the Centennial, the Bulldog Marching Band will be performing an original composition by one of our alums, written in honor of the occasion.  Master Sgt. John M. Bliss graduated from Fresno State in 1996 with a Master of Music degree.  He studied both conducting and composition, and served as a graduate assistant with the Bulldog Band.  Sgt. Bliss wrote many of the musical arrangements played by the marching band and the Bulldog Beat.  You can still hear several of his charts at every Bulldog volleyball and basketball game.  Upon graduation from Fresno State, Sgt. Bliss joined the musical staff of the United States Air Force Band, from whom he writes original compositions and arrangements.

Centennial Tribute is Sgt. Bliss' musical contribution to the Fresno State Centennial.  It is exactly 100 beats long, in honor of Fresno State's 100 years, and is based around the musical pitches of F (for Fresno) and C (for Centennial).  Following the performance, Sgt. Bliss will be honored at half-time with the presentation of the Norm and Patty Moglia Outstanding Band Alumnus Award.  The award is named in honor of Norm and Patty Moglia, two band alumni from the 1950s who have been generous and enthusiastic supporters of the Bulldog Band throughout the years.

You can find more information about Master Sergeant Bliss here.

Come on out to Fresno State's campus with your friends and family this Saturday, October 16 to enjoy the Centennial Parade, which is one of the many ways Fresno State is celebrating their 100 year anniversary. The parade will start at 3:00pm, and it will follow a route which goes along Barstow and then winds its way through campus.  It will feature nearly 60 student, alumni, and community floats, vintage cars, and even faculty dance routines. Some of the featured entries are the original 1938 "mascot" truck from the Jordan College of Agriculture, a construction feat from the Lyles College of Engineering, and the Henry Madden Library Book Cart Drill Team. There will also be entries from the Fresno State athletic department. These entries include a red convertible chauffeuring members of the 2008 National Championship baseball team while showcasing their championship trophy, a flat bed truck with bales of hay carrying the equestrian team, and the women's basketball team will be walking the route. After the parade, continue the fun at Bulldog Stadium cheering on the 'Dogs as they take on New Mexico State at Bulldog Stadium for the Homecoming Game. Kick off will be at 7:30pm, and if you don't have them yet, you can purchase your tickets here. Don't miss out on all the fun!
