    Bryson Sumlin

A record-setting effort by running back Bryson Sumlin helped him earn Athlete of the Week honors for Nov. 8-14.

The junior from Bakersfield, Calif., rushed for a career-high 220 yards and three touchdowns in Fresno State's 70-14 throttling of Hawaii last week, the most lopsided victory of the Pat Hill Era. Sumlin had 200 yards by halftime and his final total of 220 ranked as the fourth-best in program history.

It was also the first time a Bulldog RB eclipsed the 200-yard mark since Rodney Davis had 221 in the 2002 regular season finale at Louisiana Tech. Sumlin's total could have been much higher, but with the game well in hand by halftime -- the Bulldogs led 49-0 at the break -- he only carried the ball four times in the second half.

Sumlin's biggest run was an 89-yarder in the second quarter, the sixth-longest rush in school history.

Behind Sumlin, Fresno State is once again on the cusp of being nationally ranked. The Bulldogs have won three in a row, outscoring their opponents by a combined 164-35, and are 29th in the latest ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll.
