Dogs Conclude Regular Season

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team finished the 2011 regular season against CSU Bakersfield. The Bulldog dropped the final game of the series to the Roadrunners 7-4 on Sunday.
The Dogs head to the 2011 Western Athletic Conference Tournament May 24-29 and enter the tournament as the regular season co-champions with Hawai'i. Fresno State has won the WAC Tournament four times in the last five years and have a tournament record of 19-5.
The Roadrunners jumped ahead with a 2-0 lead after scoring two runs on three hits in the first inning.
Senior Garrett Weber recorded the first hit of the day for the Dogs. Weber went 3-for-5 at the plate with a run scored and the Bulldogs tallied nine hits total. Freshman Aaron Judge hit a double to the gap in left center field driving in two runs and tying the game 2-2 in the top of the second inning.
In the third inning, the Runners broke the tie ball game taking the lead 4-2 after hitting a two-run home run to left field.
Three-straight walks loaded the bases for the Bulldogs in the sixth inning. Senior Danny Muno drove in a run with an infield single as the Dogs trail 4-3.
The pitching staff recorded six strikeouts and junior Taylor Garrison had a team-high four strikeouts in two innings of work.
With one swing of the bat the Dogs tied the game 4-4 in the seventh inning. Senior Jordan Ribera hit a solo homer to left field.
CSU Bakersfield scored three unearned runs in the bottom of eighth inning to win the final game of the series 7-4.
