FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State men's head tennis coach Luke Shields announced the signing of Henrique Wojciechowski Osorio. Osorio will join the team for the spring 2017 season as a freshman with four years of eligibility.
Â
Osorio, originally from Brazil, has played much of his youth career in Portugal. He was ranked as high as No. 21 in U18 and No. 406 in ITF rankings. Osorio was a 2013, 2014 and 2015 National Team Champion.
Â
"We are really excited to be adding Henrique to our program," Shields said. "He is very hard working athlete. He is motivated and definitely trending in the right direction. He will add some stability to our team both in the classroom and on the court. He is an intelligent player with a lot of variety."
Â
In 2015, Orosio advanced to the semifinals of a ITF G4 tournament in both singles and doubles.
Â
Fresno State men's tennis will have two spring additions in Osorio and fellow freshman Ignasi de Rueda de Genover who signed with the Bulldogs in July.
