‘Dogs, UCLA agree to 2024 matchup

With the latest contract with the Bruins, the two are set to play each other three times over the next eight seasons ahead
FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State Director of Athletics Jim Bartko announced Tuesday an agreement between UCLA and the Bulldogs to square off at the Rose Bowl on Sept. 14, 2024.
"Anytime you can play an instate school like UCLA, you look hard and figure out the schedule and make it happen," Bartko said. "We have had some great games against the Bruins and the Red Wave loves to travel to SoCal."
The single game contract with the Bruins adds to two existing single game contracts that will also send the Bulldogs to the Rose Bowl in 2018 and 2021, prior to Tuesday's announced date in 2024.
The 2018 matchup was revealed May 2014 and the 2021 pairing was announced June 2015.
The two schools have faced off eight times in the history of their respective programs, with the most recent in 2008. Despite a 6-2 all-time record in advantage of UCLA, Fresno State has won the last two pairings.
In the 2008 victory over the Bruins, Tom Brandstater threw for three touchdowns and Ryan Mathews ran for one score and caught another to lead the then 25th-ranked Bulldogs past UCLA.
At the Silicon Valley Football Classic IV in 2004, Fresno State came out on top 17-9.
Fresno State is now slated to face at least one Pac-12 school in eight of the next nine seasons ahead.
Fresno State has played 68 games against teams from the Pac-12 conference in school history.
