'Dogs defeat Wildcats 4-3

LOS ANGELES – The Fresno State men's tennis team defeated PAC 12 foe Arizona 4-3, Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs improve to 6-4 on the season.

'Dogs grab the doubles point
Fresno State recorded wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to secure the doubles point and head into singles with a 1-0 lead.

'Dogs finish strong in singles
Fresno State increased their lead 2-0 when Mantas Bugailiskis defeated Oliver Plaskett 6-0, 7-6 at the No. 6 spot.

Arizona put their first dent in the scoreboard at the No. 3 position, when Trent Botha defeated Zdenek Derkas 6-1, 6-4.

The Wildcats tied the match 2-2 when Henrique Orosio fell to Alejandro Reguant 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 4 spot..

The Bulldogs regained the lead (3-2) when Youssef Hassan defeated Shoki Kasahara 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 in the No. 5 position.

Xander Veys bested Shoti Meparidze 7-6, 6-2 at the No. 1 position to clinch the match for the Bulldogs.

Euan McIntosh was defated by Kneale Will in the No. 2 spot in a three-set match (2-6, 7-6, 8-2), giving Arizona their third and final point.

What's next?
Fresno State will face UC Irvine Sunday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. PT.

The Bulldogs return home Wednesday, March 1 to host UC Davis at 2 p.m. PT in the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
