Fresno State head men’s basketball coach Rodney Terry, who has led the Bulldogs to back-to-back postseason appearances, will represent the Mountain West on the NABC Division I Congress.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Fresno State head men's basketball coach Rodney Terry has been named the congressman for the Mountain West on the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division I Congress. Terry fills the position previously held by San Diego State's Steve Fisher, who retired this past April.
Â
"It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to represent the Mountain West Conference on the NABC Congress," Terry said. "I have so much respect for Coach Fisher and I'll do my best to advocate for our coaches, student-athletes and sport in this role."
Â
As the MW's congressman, Terry will represent the league in forming the stances and direction of the NABC on topics relating to college basketball. The NABC Division I Congress is led by Kansas head coach Bill Self, who serves as President, and meets via conference call monthly, in addition to an annual in-person meeting during the NABC Convention.
Â
Terry, who has led the Bulldogs to back-to-back postseason appearances, is entering his seventh season as Fresno State's head coach.
Â
The 'Dogs are one of eight teams in the West to play in either the NCAA Tournament or NIT in each of the past two seasons. Last season, Fresno State beat eight teams in the Top 100 of the NCAA's Ratings Performance Index.
Â
Over the past three seasons, the Bulldogs have had the best home conference record in the Mountain West. When playing MW opponents during league play, Fresno State leads the conference with the most home wins in the last three seasons (23-4) and past two seasons (16-2). Additionally, the 'Dogs are 40-7 overall at home (85.1 percent home winning percentage) during the last three seasons.
Â
Fresno State opens the 2017-18 regular season on Nov. 10 at the Save Mart Center to tip off its non-conference home schedule, which also includes a Dec. 16 home game versus 2017 national semifinalist Oregon.
Â
Fresno State will start MW action at home on Dec. 27 when the Bulldogs face the Wolf Pack for the first time this season. To reserve your seat, fans are encouraged to select season ticket packages on sale now starting at $149 by calling 559-278-DOGS.
