
Bulldogs rank ninth in NCEA Preseason Rankings

WACO, Texas. – Coming off of a 9-8 season that finished in the quarterfinal round of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Championship, the Bulldogs are ranked ninth in the 2017-18 NCEA preseason poll, as announced by the organization on Tuesday morning.

"We would have liked to be higher in the rankings as any team would," Fresno State head coach Eric Hubbard said. "We only lost two starters this year and have added some great talent to our roster. We will also have two new coaches and that brings a lot of new excitement and skill to our team."

Fresno State will face seven top-10 ranked programs this year, including four at home. The 'Dogs host No. 1 Texas A&M (Sept. 22), No. 2 Georgia (Sept. 29), No. 8 SMU (Feb. 16) and No. 4 Oklahoma State (Feb. 17).

On the road, Fresno State will compete against No. 8 SMU (Nov. 10), No. 6 TCU (Feb. 2), No. 1 Texas A&M (Feb. 3), No. 7 South Carolina (Mar. 9) and No. 3 Auburn (Mar. 10).

Texas A&M, which won the 2017 NCEA Championship, is the preseason No. 1 team. The Aggies were ranked No. 1 in the nation for five consecutive ranking announcements last season.

Georgia, a six-time NCEA Champion and a 2017 SEC Champion program, is ranked No. 2. Auburn, with four previous NCEA Championship titles and a 2017 semifinals appearance, comes in at No. 3 in the rankings.

Oklahoma State is ranked No. 4, while Baylor, a 2017 NCEA quarterfinalist and the 2017 Big-12 champion, comes in at No. 5.

TCU, a 2017 NCEA semifinalist, is ranked No. 6, followed by South Carolina coming in at No. 7.

SMU (No. 8), Fresno State (No. 9) and Delaware State, the 2017 UEC Champion (No. 10), round out the preseason top-10.

The Bulldogs begin fall competition against No. 1 Texas A&M on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Student Horse Center.
