'Dogs drop hard-fought 4-3 contest

Fresno State (14-16, 8-6 MW) totaled seven hits in the contest with Andrew Kachel matching his single-game career high with three coming a triple shy of the cycle and added two runs and two RBI.
Travis Welker scored the 'Dogs other run while four other Bulldogs added one hit apiece.
On the mound, southpaw Jake Dixon went at least six innings for the fifth straight start tossing six innings allowing eight hits, four runs, no walks and struck out four.
Trevor Garcia matched his season best tossing the final three innings and struck out a season-high five.
How It Happened
A three-run third inning for New Mexico got the visitors on the board first as the first four Lobos of the frame all smacked base hits.
The 'Dogs answered back in the bottom of the frame with Kachel reaching on a Lobo throwing error at third and he came around to score swiping home after Lobo catcher Shane Podsednik threw down to second unsuccessfully attempting to catch Josh Lauck stealing.
A two-out home run for New Mexico in the top of the fifth put the Lobos ahead 4-1, but Kachel answered back cutting the Lobos' lead to one with a two-run scorcher to left-center that found its way out of the ball park in a hurry.
The Bulldogs tried to tie the game in the seventh when Kachel advanced to third with two down, but a groundout to second by Ivan Luna ended the threat. The 'Dogs were unable to get anymore runners aboard over the final two innings to fall by one run.
