Track & Field: Jim Davis Ties for Fourth at NCAA Championships

Indianapolis, Ind. - Junior Jim Davis cleared a personal best of 17-10 1/2 to tie for fourth place in the mens pole vault today at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. Davis improved his mark by two feet after the Godley, Texas, native cleared 17-8 1/2 at the Wolf Pack Invitational earlier this year in Reno, Nev.

Davis earns his first All-America honor in the pole vault with todays performance and becomes the 35th Bulldog to become an All-American in the indoor track and field season. In addition, Davis has two WAC championships under his belt after winning last years outdoor competition with a mark of 17-2 3/4 and this years indoor competition with a mark of 17-4 1/2.

With Davis performance today, Fresno State finished in 39th place in the mens competition with a score of 4.50.

Fresno State did not place in the womens competition even with Melissa Prices first place finish yesterday in the pole vault.

The Fresno State track and field teams return to action next Saturday at an outdoor meet with Cal Poly-SLO and Stanford in San Luis Obispo.
