Daigle Sets Two School Records at Modesto Relays
Senior Angela Daigle (Benecia, Calif.) set two new school records in the 100 and 200 Saturday at the Modesto Relays in Modesto, Calif. Daigle ran an 11.34 in the 100, breaking Kesha Criswells mark of 11.43 set in 1994. Her day not yet done, the sprinter topped her own school record in the 200 with a time of 23.34. Daigle ranks among Fresno States all-time top ten in the 100, 200 and 400 meters. Junior Brandi Jenkins (Visalia, Calif.) moved into a tie for seventh place in the 100 hurdles on the Bulldogs top ten list with a time of 14.56 at Saturdays meet. Other Dogs setting personal records in Modesto were distance runner Jennifer Smith (Lake in the Woods, Calif.) in the 1500 meters (4:46.5), Aleyna Tomate (Clovis, Calif.) in the pole vault (12-2), and Dwanice Williams (Modesto, Calif.) in the 100 (12.28).
Throwers Compete at Stanford
Fresno States throwing squad traveled to Palo Alto, Calif. on Friday to take part in the Stanford Invitational. Senior Sarah Goodlaw (Burbank, Calif.) took home the Dogs only win with a first-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 47-7. Goodlaw also took fifth place in the discus and hammer. Sophomore Erin Boothe (Fresno) finished second in the high jump with a leap of 5-1, missing first place by just two inches.
UP NEXT: WAC Championship
After a week off the Bulldogs will travel to Ft. Collins, Colo. for the 1999 WAC Championship. The meet begins on Thu., May 20 and runs through Sat., May 22. Senior Melissa Price will be looking to defend her Pole vault title as she won the inaugural outdoor event in 1998, setting a new NCAA record with a height of 14-3 1/2. As a team the Dogs finished fourth at the 1998 meet with 67 points.
