Women kick off track and field season on a good note

Fresno, Calif. - Fresno States Sarah Goodlaw took first in the annual Fresno State Weight Pentathlon today. The senior from Burbank, Calif., scored 2,698 points to win the womens competition making her way into the Fresno State Weight Pentathlon All-time Top 10 with the third-best score . She had the highest mark in every event except the hammer where she was one inch away from taking first in that event. Goodlaw posted a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 44-7 1/2.
Senior Brooke Aderman placed second (1,951 points) setting personal bests in the 20-lb. weight throw (47-10 3/4), the shot put (32-11 3/4) and the javelin (71-4 1/4). Aderman threw the longest hammer throw among the women edging out teammate Sarah Goodlaw for first.
Freshman Andrea Stelter placed third (1,886 points) in her first collegiate meet and senior Amanda Walthour finished in seventh with 1,090 competing in only two events.
The track and field teams will next participate in the Reno Indoor Invitational in Reno, Nev., on Saturday, Jan. 23.
