Fresno State: (2008) Was the team's top javelin thrower... qualified for the NCAA West Regional with a throw of 157-6 (47.91m) at the Cal Nevada Championship to win the event ... had the second-best mark in the WAC ... moved into third place in the Fresno State record books. Alberni District Secondary School: A four-sport letterwinner... played basketball, soccer, field hockey and track & field... won zone championships in basketball, soccer and field hockey and earned MVP honors as the goal keeper for the field hockey team and as a guard/forward for the basketball team... was a provincial silver medalist in the javelin and 2007 Athlete of the Year for Provincial Sports... took second at the Canadian National Championships for the javelin and ranked fourth for 2008... best javelin toss of 154-0 (47.98m). Personal: Born December 20, 1989 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada... parents are Terri Pighin and Gerry Pighin... has one brother, Darryl... cousin Evan Pighin plays hockey for the WHL... enjoys any sport or outdoor activity... lists her biggest thrill as taking second place at the Canadian Nationals as a 17 year-old... came to Fresno State for the throws coach, the fun team, warm weather and a good education system. |
