'Dogs Finish AFA Invite With Solid Showings

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Fresno State women's indoor track and field team finished in sixth with 64.5 points in the Air Force Invitational. It was the Bulldogs' first meet of the season.

    Senior Meagan McKee had another solid day with a field event. After finishing third in the weight throw on Friday, she finished third again. This time is was in the shot put on an attempt that measured 46 feet, 10 inches.

    Kyra Johnson and Dezirae Johnson finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400 meter. Kyra finished with a time of 56.25, while Dezirae posted a 57.77. The Johnson sisters also were a part of the 4x400 relay team that finished in third with a time of 3:52.49.

    Shakira Lewis recorded a seventh place finish in the 200 meter, finishing in 25.76 seconds. She also ran the 60 meter in 7.69 seconds to finish eighth.

    Fresno State showed well in the triple jump competition as they were the only team with two finishers in the top six. Tiera Simpson jumped 37'8.75" to finish fifth and Ashley Hatcher went 37'6.50" to finish in sixth.

    The women's indoor track and field team will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Seattle, Wash., to compete in the University of Washington Indoor Invitational.
