Bulldogs put up big numbers at Air Force

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's indoor track and field team completed its first travel meet of the 2008 season with a sixth place team finish and stellar individual marks.
The Bulldogs easily championed the 16-team 4x440 yard relay. Tiera Hilliard, Christina Lopez, Erica McCoy and Renee Winston combined for a 3:51.34 finish in the relay, more than four seconds ahead of second-place Colorado.
Fresno State's throwers had solid performances throughout the meet. Freshman Rosario Sanchez took second out of 34 competitors in the shot put, throwing for 49-7.75 (15.3m). The measurement puts her in second amongst WAC performers this season. Two other freshmen had solid performances in the shot as well. Kayla Xavier was fourth and Lisa Ma'ake finished eighth at the meet. Their marks put them at fifth and seventh-best in WAC standings, respectively. Reigning WAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, Sharon Ayala, had a 57-5 (17.5m) weight throw finish, good enough for fourth.
Hilliard, a freshman, took home third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.06 seconds. The time puts her into first in WAC standings. McCoy, a senior, took seventh with a time of 57.77s.
Junior Rayna White ran a 7.77s 60m dash for fourth place. Katrina Arnold's 7.90s dash was good enough for 11th. Christina Lopez timed in at 25.11s in the 200m dash for sixth at the meet and fifth in WAC standings.
Krystina Jackson tore through the 60m hurdles for an 8.75s finish for sixth.
Fresno State travels to the Northern Arizona Invitational on Feb. 9.
