FRESNO, Calif.– Je’Nia Sears posted the fifth-best long jump in nation and broke the Fresno State indoor track and field school record to lead the ’Dogs at the annual Run for the Dream meet held at the Save Mart Center on Sunday.

Sears mark of 20’-10.75” (6.37 meters) broke the school record of 19’-10.75” (6.06m) she previously shared with Bulldog alumnus Lisa Collet. She was the first Bulldog to reach Collet’s mark held since 1994 at the Bronco Classic just two weeks ago.

“Je’Nia had a big time performance today,” said head coach Scott Winsor. “She continues to improve every week.”

In the sprints Breeauna Thompson continued to excel, today she set a personal record in the 55-meter clocking a time of 7.09 seconds. Thompson bested her time of 7.24 she set at the Run for the Dream last season.

“Bree ran well in the 55, she’s been very consistent in all of her events this season for us,” said Winsor.

Meagan McKee won the shot put with a 50’-8.25” (15.45m) throw and won the weight throw with a 63’-7.50” (19.39m) mark, both season-best throws while her throw in the weights was a personal record. Anamanu Folau trailed McKee in the shot put, placing second with a mark of 42’-2.50” (13.78m).

Kyra Johnson and Dezirae Johnson finished second and third respectively in the 600-yard run. Kyra clocked a time of 1:26.18 while Dezaire crossed the line at 1:26.78.

Up next for the ’Dogs is the Mountain West Indoor Championships held on Feb.21-23 in Boise, Idaho.

“We feel pretty good about going into next week,” said Winsor. “If we just compete like we normally do we’ll be good”
