Track and Field Completes Sweep In Rain-Soaked Tri-Meet

FRESNO, Calif.- The Fresno State men's and women's track and field squads completed a sweep on Wednesday afternoon, winning titles on both sides in a tri-meet with Cal State Bakersfield and Mt. San Antonio College despite wet and windy conditions at a rain-soaked Warmerdam Field.
The Bulldog men totaled 165.5 points total, finishing ahead of runner-up Mt. San Antonio College with 108.5 and third-place Cal State Bakersfield with 77 points. On the women's side, Fresno State registered 165.5 points for the win. Mt. San Antonio College took second with 117.5 while Cal State Bakersfield checked in third at 56.
Fresno State recorded nine-first place finishes on the men's side, led by six in running events alone which were timed by hand. Chris Berrian earned top honors in both the 100-meters (10.3) and 200-meters (21.0) while the Bulldog's 4x100 relay team took first with a 41.00. Alex Jones notched a personal-best 23-8.25 (7.22m) to win the long jump and Dave Endler tallied an NCAA Regional mark in the discus with a 173-3 (52.82m).
The women also totaled nine first-place efforts on the afternoon. Zinzi Evans (800-meters), Valeria Delgado (1500-meters) and Andrea Buckner (5000-meters) all captured running titles (also timed by hand). Lexine Lesser matched her season-high with a victory in the pole vault at 12-6 (3.81m) while Katie Christianson recorded a personal-best in the long jump at 19-6.25 (5.95m). All-American Mallory Webb bettered her NCAA Regional qualifying mark with a toss of 160-4 (48.88m) in the javelin.
The Bulldogs return to action next week to compete in the 77th Bob Mathias Fresno Relays.
