SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Fresno State track and field team competed in San Luis Obispo on Friday and Saturday afternoon for the 2012 ShareSlo.com Cal Poly Invitational. This was their second time the central coast this season.
"All and all it was a great day for us and a great meet," Head Coach Scott Winsor said. "We put some people in races they are not used to running and they adjusted well."
The Bulldogs took home a number of first place finishes in both the field and running events, starting with the men's hammer throw on Friday night with Roderick Dash.
Dash scored a personal-record with a throw of 57.67-meters. Senior Gabriel Acero also competed in the hammer throw placing third with a mark of 53.48m.
Justin Lovingood took first place in the men's triple jump, jumping 14.50m and second in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.92m. Christina Cabias also took home a second place finish in javelin with a throw of 43.90m.
To jump start the running events, both the men's and women's team placed first in the 4x100 meter relay. The women finished in 46.41 seconds while the men finished in 41.25.
In the 100m dash, Fresno State scored first and second. Senior Shanelle Stephens placed first running 12.09 seconds followed by Tanae Turner who took second, finishing in 12.43. Turner did take a first place finish in the 200m dash finishing in 25.47.
In the men's 100m dash, the 'Dogs also scored first and second place finishes. Cameron Parker took first with a time of 10.86 and Devin Harrison finished second with a time of 10.98 seconds.
The Bulldogs compete at Buchanan High School next weekend, March 31, for their only home meet this season.
