WALNUT, Calif. – Je'Nia Sears and Meagan McKee were the last two Bulldogs in action on the final day of the Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday. The two were invited to compete in the Invite Elite events, which featured the meets entrants that owned the best 10 marks from the past two seasons in their respective events.
Sears qualified for the Invite Elite Long Jump after posting a 20’-5.75” (6.24m) distance on March 23 at this season’s UC Irvine Spring Break Invitational. On Saturday on her second jump of six attempts, Sears logged a 19’-4.00” (5.89m) distance to place sixth overall, the Fresno State sophomore was the sole participant representing a university in the event.
McKee qualified for the Invite Elite Shot Put with a stellar mark from last season, on Saturday she recorded a 47’-11.25” (14.61m) and a 10th-place finish at the Mt. SAC Relays. The junior from San Jose, Calif. qualified to compete with a 53’-1.00” (16.18 m) throw at the MONDO Mid-Major Challenge on April 14, 2012.
The Bulldogs will be back in action next Saturday, as they will host the Bulldog Open for their final regular season meet of the 2012-13 season. The Bulldog-hosted event will be held between Warmerdam Field on the campus of Fresno State and Buchanan High School at War Memorial Stadium on April 27, admission is free.
