Thompson Headed to Semifinals

Austin, Texas. - Junior Breeauna Thompson earned a spot in the 200m semifinals at the NCAA Preliminary Rounds in Austin, Texas Friday after finishing in 24.18 seconds, her second fastest time of the season.

The Fresno, Calif. native also ran in the 400m preliminary. She was the only women's Western Athletic Conference student-athlete to compete in multiple events.

Three Bulldogs had top 25 finishes, led by senior Christina Cabias who finished 20th in the javelin with a personal best 45.50m toss.

2012 WAC Outdoor champions Justin Lovingood and Devin Harrison also had top 25 finishes. Lovingood's 15.31m mark in the triple jump earned him 23rd and Harrison finished 24th in the long jump with 7.46m leap.

Two 'Dogs narrowly missed qualifying for the semifinals of their respective events.

Remington Blair missed qualifying in the 400m dash by 0.09 seconds.

WAC champion Latrisha Jordan finished the 400m hurdles finished less than a second behind the last qualifying time.

Thompson will run in heat one of the semifinals Saturday, May 26. The top 30 runners will advance to the finals and compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 6-9 in Des Moines, Iowa. Fans can follow the results live here.
