FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's indoor track and field team kicks off the season with the Run for the Dream meet held in the Save Mart Center Friday, Jan. 20, at 1:00 p.m.
"Bob Fraley does a tremendous job with this meet," said head coach Scott Winsor. "It has become a major goal of many high school athletes to qualify for the Run for the Dream. It allows California High School Indoor Track and Field to showcase itself to the rest of the country."
The Save Mart Center contains the only indoor track in California and has become increasingly popular over the last couple of years with attendance from both high schools and universities.
Field events will be held at the Livestock Pavilion beginning at 1:00 p.m. with pole vault. Finals for the running events begin at 1:44 p.m. with the women's 55 meter hurdles.
"The Run for the Dream meet is a great way to start the season. I'm very excited to see how our team reacts to competition," Winsor said. "We've had some very good performances during fall training. Now it's time for our upperclassman to put their skills on display against other competition and to show our underclassman how it's done."
Run for the Dream, is a great way to get an early start to the indoor season and allows the Bulldogs to get a better feel for where they are at for outdoor season.
"Fresno State women's track and field has a very bright future and we are excited to get this year rolling," said Winsor.
