FRESNO, Calif. -- After competing in their first event of the indoor season last weekend at Air Force, the Fresno State women's indoor track and field team heads to Seattle for the University of Washington Invitational beginning on Friday, January 31.

The Bulldogs, with less than a full team, finished sixth with 64.5 points at the Air Force Invitational last weekend.

Junior Je'Nia Sears, the defending Indoor Mountain West long jump champion, was the top collegiate finisher last weekend. She recorded a jump of 19 feet, 11 inches to earn the best score by a collegiate competitor. Sears' jump was more than a foot longer then any other Mountain West competitor.

Thrower Meagan McKee finished third in both the weight throw and the shot put. Sisters Kyra Johnson and Dezirae Johnson will compete in the 400-meter, where they placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in last weekend's meet.

Competition will start at 9:00 inside the Dempsey Indoor facility on the campus of the University of Washington.
