Fresno State's Sharon Ayala has been named the Toyota/GoBulldogs.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of January 28. The Western Athletic Conference named Ayala the first Western Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the 2008 season.
Ayala, a junior, championed the weight throw at the second annual Run for the Dream on Monday, Jan. 21. Her 63' 9.50" (19.44m) toss is the ninth-farthest in the NCAA this season, provisionally qualifying Ayala for the NCAA Meet. The Fresno native's throw is the WAC's best this season by more than eight feet. The meet was the first for the Fresno State Indoor Track and Field team.
