FRESNO, Calif. – Je’Nia Sears is in Fayetteville, Ark. this weekend representing Fresno State at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships while her teammates are back in Fresno getting set to host the Cal Poly Dual Outdoor Meet. Both events are scheduled for Saturday.
Sears, the sophomore long jumper from Fresno, became the first Bulldog to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships since 2009 with her remarkable 20’-10.75” jump at the Run for the Dream meet at the Save Mart Center on Feb. 17. The distance finished as the eight-best mark during the 2013 indoor season, which earned her the opportunity to compete against the best of the best on Saturday.
The outdoor team will host its first of three outdoor meets this season with the Cal Poly Dual on Saturday. The meet will begin at 11 a.m. at Wamerdam Field for the field events while the running events will start at 2 p.m. at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium on the campus of Buchanan High School.
