FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State track and field is sending 13 athletes to the prestigious Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin beginning Wednesday, March 26 and running through Saturday, March 29.
Eight men and five women will make the trip to Texas. The men that will make the trip are Olivier Bernard, Kamara Biawogi, Uriel Cabanas, Roderick Dash, Brennen Davis, Devin Harrison, Michael Jamieson and Brice Sandri. On the women's side, Caitlin Byrd, Dezirae Johnson, Kyra Johnson, Meagan McKee and Je'Nia Sears will travel to compete.
Sandri is coming off a personal-best at the UC Irvine Spring Break Invitational this past weekend. The junior won the discus throw with a distance of 181 feet, five inches (55.29 meters) to set his new PR and to also set the meet record. He now ranks fourth all-time in Fresno State history and is top ranked in the Mountain West and No. 17 in the country.
Also breaking a UCI Spring Break Invitational meet record was junior Je'Nia Sears. She jumped just over 20 feet (6.10m) to set the new meet record and also win the event. Sears ranks first in the Mountain West and fifth in the country early in the outdoor season.
Parts of the week's competition will be televised by the Longhorn Network. On Wednesday, coverage will start at 3:00 p.m. PT. On Thursday, the network will pick up the events from 2:00-4:00 p.m. PT and then again at 5:00 p.m. PT. Coverage for Friday and Saturday will last most of the day.
