FRESNO, Calif. - This Saturday the Bulldog Open will serve as the regular season finale for the Fresno State men's and women's track and field team as they look to sharpen their skills before they head to its inaugural Mountain West Championship meet. The Bulldog-hosted event will be held between the campuses of Fresno State and Buchanan High School.
Action begins at 11 a.m. on the campus of Fresno State with all throwing events (discus, hammer, javelin and shot put) to be held on a rolling schedule at Warmerdam Field, starting with the men's hammer and the women to follow.
The bulk of the event starts at 2:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of Buchanan High School. The women's long jump, which features Bulldog standout Je'Nia Sears, kicks things off at 2:30 p.m. while Devin Harrison and the men's long jumpers will follow. Both 4x100 relays can be caught between approximately 3:30 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. The freshman twin sister duo of Kyra Johnson and Dezirae Johnson will be featured at 4:55 p.m. in the 400-meter hurdles.
The meet will take a brief pause to recognize the Bulldog seniors at 5:40 p.m. near the finish line at War Memorial Stadium. This year's senior class comprises of 13 student-athletes, seven men and six women.
Following the senior's ceremony, Saturday will close with the 4x400 relays, the men are first at approximately 5:50 p.m. and the women will conclude the day immediately following the men's race.
After the weekend the 'Dogs will have 10 days to prepare for the MW Championships, held May 8-11 in Las Vegas, Nev.
