FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State track and field team is proud to announce it will offer summer camps available to boys and girls ages 12-18 at Warmerdam Field on the campus of Fresno State throughout a four week period beginning June 24.
Fresno State will offer six four-day camps modeled after the USA Track and Field Elite development camps, hosted by the Bulldog coaching staff for the serious camper looking to develop and hone their skills for the next level.
"I'm excited to host this year's camp along with Lisa [Misipeka], said assistant track and field coach Chris Baptista. "I hope for our attendees to leave our camp feeling they got an elite experience as if they were training as a Division I student-athlete and leave with an understanding what a Division I athlete goes through."
Each area of focus will be limited to 10 participants per group to create a hands-on experience.
The camps are set up for one skill session per day as the mornings will be instructional and afternoons will incorporate the educational component.
"We've chosen to focus on a USA Track and Field elite development model for our camps, said Baptista.
"We'll limit our days to one skill session per day and try to educate our campers with all the supplemental aspects that go into being a track and field athlete such as sports psychology, sports nutrition, how to recover after high intensity workouts and how to set up training along with general fitness."
A coach's package is also offered to give those an opportunity to attend all sessions to increase their knowledge and see how Fresno State trains its track and field athletes.
