FRESNO, Calif. - As the Mountain West Outdoor Championships kick off Wednesday for some, the Fresno State track and field team is gearing up to make its impact starting on Friday at Sheila Tarr Field at Myron Partridge Stadium located on the campus of UNLV. The meet runs through Saturday.
Real-time scoring and results, along with post-race interviews, event highlights and photo galleries from the MW Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be available through the championship central page by clicking this link or the one at the top of the page.
In its inaugural season in the Mountain West a select number of Bulldogs from the women's team got a taste of what the conference had to offer at the MW Indoor Championships earlier this year. Those 'Dogs will look to take that experience to Las Vegas and build upon it, while others will strive to make their mark against the conference in the schools' first-ever MW Outdoor Championship.
On Friday, track events run from 8 a.m. till 1:10 p.m. with primarily qualifying runs, although four finals will start the day, beginning with the women's 10,000-meter run. Qualifying runs start at 10 a.m. with the women's 1500m and concludes with the men's 200m. Field events begin at 10 a.m. with the women's discus with the day to close after the men's javelin at 2:30 p.m.
On the closing day the woman's 5000m, the first of 20 track event finals, gets started at 8 a.m. Saturday morning. On the field side, the men's hammer starts at 9 a.m. with seven events to follow. The day concludes at 3:30 p.m. with the Championship ceremony.
