Fresno State wins USA Track and Field Junior Cross Country Championships

Fresno, Calif. - Today, five Fresno State freshmen overcame cold and rainy conditions to win the USA Track and Field Junior Cross Country Championships in Greensboro, N.C.
Head coach Red Estes took freshmen Moses Avila, Michael Galvan, Alex Mason, Sean Moody and Josh Roddy to the event at Bryan Park Golf Course in Greensboro, N.C. The Bulldogs scored 16 points to earn the victory over Wings of America and Life Sports Track and Field. The team scores were accumulated by the finishing times of the top four runners on each team.
"It was incredible," Estes said. "We ran well despite super cold and muddy conditions."
Roddy (Manteca, Calif.) was the first Fresno State runner and team participant to complete the 8 Kilometer race in a time of 27:37, finishing 21st overall. Moody (Stockton, Calif.) placed 31st with a time of 28:18 and 3rd among those participating for teams. Mason (Alameda, Calif.) came in 43rd with a time of 29:25, Avila (Reedley, Calif.) was 45th and timed in at 29:46 and Michael Galvan (Barstow, Calif.) ran in a time of 30:51 (54th).
