FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's and women's cross country teams will kick off the 2012 season Friday, Aug. 31 at the Aggie Open, hosted by UC Davis. The meet will be held at the Putah Creek Reserve, a loop course on packed dirt. Friday's event is slated to begin with the men's 6K race at 6:30 p.m., followed by the women's 4K at 7 p.m.

The women's team returns seven letterwinners, including 2011 WAC Freshman of the Year, Lyndsie Etherton. On the men's side, six letterwinners return together with Carson Keller, 2011 second-team All-WAC.

Friday's Aggie Open marks the first time the 'Dogs cross country team will compete as a Mountain West member. Race weather on Friday is predicted to be clear with highs in the lower 80's and lows in the low 50's.
