Women's Cross Country Wins Again

    FRESNO, Calif. - For the second year in a row the Fresno State women's cross crountry team takes first place at the Cal State Stanislaus Invitational. This was the first meet for the women's team held Saturday, Sep. 8.

    Junior, Kara June (Santa Maria, Calif.) finished in first place of the 6K with a time of 22:01.2 shaving almost 47 seconds of here time last year. Senior, Olga Gutierrez-Nunez (Visalia, Calif.) came in right behind June with a second place finish respectively and a time of 22:31.1.

    Bulldog's Michelle June (Santa Maria, Calif.) finished third on the team, fifth overall, coming in at 23:09.9. Finishing fourth and fifth respectfuly for the Bulldogs were junior-transfer, Orelia Gonzales (La Puente, Calif.) 23:33.6 and sophmore, Stacy Aurit (Union City, Calif.) 23:28.9.

    Nicolin Neal, sophomore, and Courtney Stewart (Castro Valley, Calif.) round out Fresno States top seven.

    Cal State Stanislaus finish second with 45 points, followed by Sonoma State with 55, Cal State Stanislaus 'D' 143, University of Pacific 160, Cal State Stanislaus 'C' 168 and Cal State Stanislaus 'B' 171.

    The Bulldog's next meet is the Fresno State Invitational at Woodward Park on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002.
