Colorado Springs, Colo. - Fresno State sophomore Annemarie Schwanz was selected the Mountain West Conference athlete of the week for her performance in the 40th annual Stanford Invitational on Saturday, September 28. It is Schwanz's first Mountain West honor in her young career that has seen her run just three races so far.
Schwanz finished in ninth out of 222 runners in a time of 21:42 in the prestigious Stanford Invite. Her time was good for a new personal-best in the 6K and was also the 6th-fastest 6K race in Fresno State history. Schwanz earned nine points for her performance which helped lead the women's team to a ninth place finish, an improvement over last year's 14th place finish.
Schwanz was also named the Sysco Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday.
