    CAL POLY INVITATIONAL THIS WEEK
    The men's and women's cross country teams will head to San Luis Obispo, Calif., for the Cal Poly Invitational this Saturday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. Last season, the men's squad placed fourth in the meet, while the women took eighth. Also, some runners from both squads will compete at Woodward Park in the Fresno Pacific Invitational on Saturday.

    MEN CAPTURE FIRST PLACE AT SAN FRANCISCO STATE INVITATIONAL
    The men's team took first place at the San Francisco State Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 7. Josh Roddy (So., Manteca, Calif.) finished first in the meet, posting a time of 26:25. Roddy has been the Bulldogs top finisher in each meet this season. Currently, his season best time is 24:30 which he recorded at the Stanislaus Invitational. Phil Ogilvie (So., Clarksburg, Calif.) turned in a good run at the meet, completing the race with a time of 27:01 for a fifth place finish. Robert Vaca (So., Parlier, Calif.) finished right behind Ogilvie in sixth, posting a time of 27:05.

    WOMEN TAKE THIRD AT SAN FRANCISCO STATE INVITATIONAL
    The women's team took third place at the San Francisco State Invitational with a team total of 80 points on Saturday, Oct. 7. Chico State came in first (32 points) and Sonoma State took second (71 points). Brianna Denley (Sr., Prunedale, Calif.) was the `Dogs top runner, completing the race with a time of 23:28 and placing 12th. Kara June (Fr., Santa Maria, Calif.) and Michelle June (So., Santa Maria, Calif.) followed in 14th and 15th place, respectively. The team had all six of its runners place in the top 25 of the race that included 76 participants. Five of the six Bulldogs recorded season-best marks, although Rachel Bauer (Jr., Clovis, Calif.) was only three seconds of her year's best time.

    WAC CHAMPIONSHIP IN THREE WEEKS, BULLDOGS HOST REGIONALS
    The Bulldogs will not compete next weekend and prepare for the WAC Championships. The conference meet will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Tulsa, Okla., at 11 a.m. PST. Last year the men took third and the women placed sixth at the conference meet. Fresno State and Woodward Park will host the NCAA District 9 Regionals two weeks following the WAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 11. Woodward Park was the host of last season's WAC Championships and previously hosted the regionals in 1998.
