    Brad Fontes enters his first season as the Bulldogs' first base coach. Along with coaching first base, Fontes will work with the Bulldogs' hitters and infielders.

    Fontes comes to Fresno State with 14 years of head coaching experience, most recently departing Central High School, where he coached from 2007-2013. Prior to Central, Fontes was the head coach at Reedley HS for one year (2006) and spent the previous six years as the head coach at Hoover HS (1999-2005).

    An eighth round draft choice by the Texas Rangers in the 1986 MLB June Amateur draft, Fontes forewent his letter of intent to play at California out of McLane High School (Fresno, Calif.). Fontes played for four seasons, three for Texas Rangers and his final year with Minnesota Twins. He played two Rookie ball short seasons (Rangers) and three seasons in Single-A (Rangers-2/Twins-1).

    Fontes resides in Clovis with his wife Karen and has one daughter, Kailey.
