71 Bulldogs Named 2012-13 MW Scholar Athletes

A total of 71 Fresno State student-athletes were honored as part of a league-record 623 Mountain West scholar athletes.

The Fresno State baseball team has maintained over a 3.0 team GPA for three straight semesters.

2013 (RS FRESHMAN): Made seven appearances, including one start ... recorded a .143 batting average ... went 1-for-3 with a run scored on March 16 against San Diego State.

2012 (REDSHIRT): Redshirted the 2012 season ... played summer ball for the Crystal Lake Cardinals and was named to the Metropolitan Collegiate Baseball League of Illinois All-Star team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Captain in senior league ... honorable mention all-county ... named second-team All-Marmonte ... two-time team best defensive player ... played three different positions on team ... also leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Personal: Born Sept. 21, 1993 in Thousand Oaks, Calif. ... son of Paul and Susan Delaney ... has older sister, Erin ... intends to major in kinesiology ... former teammate plays for UC San Diego ... hobbies include frisbee golf, church, fishing and cliff jumping ... favorite athlete is Derek Jeter because his is hardworking and stays out of the media ... biggest athletic thrill was the Big League World Series in 2010 ... most admires his youth pastor because "he inspires me and cares for others" ... chose Fresno State because of the baseball and kinesiology programs.
