Five Years Ago, The Wonderdogs Shocked the World

Today marks the fifth anniversary of the Fresno State baseball team winning the 2008 national championship.

Fresno State: (2007) One of the Bulldogs young aces on the mound ... made 25 appearances 19 starts ... recorded a 3.19 ERA with a 8-5 record throwing 101.2 innings, striking out 105, the most on the team ... only gave up three home runs ... First-team All-WAC ...threw eight innings vs. Louisiana Tech allowing just one run on six hits May 12 ... threw six innings striking out five batters and allowing two runs vs. Louisiana Tech May 25 ... had a season and career-high nine strikeouts vs. La. Tech May 12 ... threw 5.2 innings striking out 4 batters allowing just two runs in the NCAA Regional at San Diego June 1.

Fresno State (2006): Only two-way player on the Bulldogs' team in 2006 ... Pitched 25.0 innings and started in one against Binghamton (3/15/06) ... Pitched 4.0 innings in a game against Dallas Baptist (4/29/06) recording five strikeouts, allowing two hits and two walks ... allowed 24 hits, 14 runs and 19 walks ... tallied 34 strikeouts .. hit .412 as a pinch-hitter, with seven hits, five RBI's and three doubles.

Buchanan High School: One of the most highly touted recruits in the Central Valley ... a three-year letterwinner as a pitcher and first baseman at Buchanan High School ... hit .350 with 131 strikeouts ... helped team record a 64-18 record in three years ... team captain ... named to the California All-Star team ... first-team all-league ... 2005 Valley Player of the Year ... drafted in the 37th round of the 2005 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Personal: Justin Wilson was born on August 18, 1987 in Orange County, Calif. ... parents are Jim and Johna Wilson ... both parents are sales professionals ... has one sister, Jil ... favorite athlete is ultimate fighter Chuck "Iceman" Lidell because of his intensity ... came to Fresno State because of their balance of academics and athletics.
