Baseball Loses Season Home Opener to Cal State Fullerton, 12-0

FRESNO, Calif. - Junior right-hander Wes Littleton tossed a complete game one-hit shutout as seventh-ranked Cal State Fullerton defeated Fresno State 12-0 Friday at Beiden Field.
The Titans improved to 4-0 while the Bulldogs dropped to 1-1.
Littleton (1-0) struck out seven while facing the minimum 27 batters. In the first, Fresno State junior infielder Chris Patrick walked with one out but junior infielder Casey McGehee struck out and Patrick was caught stealing on the play. In the fourth, Fresno State junior infielder Ryan Haag broke up Littleton's no-hitter with a single to left but Patrick followed and hit into a double play
Fullerton senior infielder Justin Smyres led off the game with a homer to center field off FS starter Bryan Wolfenbarger (0-1). Smyres (3-for-6) was one of six Titans to record multi-hit efforts. Sophomore infielder Ronnie Prettyman led CSF with two singles and two doubles and three runs scored.
The Titans and Bulldogs return to action Saturday for the second game of the three game series at 1 p.m. CSF lefty Ryan Schreppel (1-0, 1.80) is scheduled to oppose Fresno State right-hander Matt Garza (1-0, 0.00).
