FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State (4-4) could not find the answer at the plate for Pepperdine's righty Corey Miller and fell 6-0 Sunday afternoon in Malibu, Calif. The Bulldogs dropped the series 2-1 and move to 39-25 all-time against the Waves.

Trent Garrison caught his first complete game since 2010. The junior went a team-high 2-for-4 on the day.

Smith gave up just three hits to the 'Dogs in seven innings pitched.

Fresno State began to rally in the eighth after Andrew Alvarez entered for the Waves on the mound.

With one out on the board, junior Daniel Moultrie picked up his 11th hit of the season advancing freshman Chris Mariscal to second. Senior Patrick Hutcheson grounded out to second, advancing the pair, but the `Dogs couldn't capitalize and flew out the inning.

Senior Thomas Harlan gave up only one earned run and struck out two in 3.2 innings pitched.

Fresno State put three other pitchers on the mound before finding the combination of Garrison with twin brother Taylor to stifle the Waves' bats.

Taylor, the usual closer, shut down Pepperdine's offense, allowing just one hit in two innings and striking out one.

Harlan (1-1) received the loss in his second start of the season.

The Bulldogs return home Feb. 28 to face UC Santa Barbara and then No. 2 Stanford, Mar. 2-4. Fans can purchase season and single-game tickets online or by calling the Bulldog Ticket Office at 559-278-3647.
