Baseball Shut Out By Pepperdine, 3-0

MALIBU, Calif. - Brandon Boesch and Kea Kometani combined on a six-hit shutout to lead Pepperdine to a 3-0 win over Fresno State Friday at Eddy D. Field.
The Waves improved to 5-4 while the Bulldogs fell to 4-8.
Boesch (2-1) scattered five hits while striking out five in 7.2 innings. Kometani pitched the final 1.1 innings to earn his fourth save of the year. The Bulldogs were shutout for the second time this season.
Pepperdine opened the scoring with an RBI double by Cory Brightwell in the first inning off Fresno State starter Josh Glynn (0-3). Glynn allowed two runs on seven hits over 5.1 inningas. The Waves plated single runs in the fifth and eighth on run-scoring hits by Michael Beattie and Danny Kelly. Outfielder Kevin Estrada led the Waves at the plate going 2-for-4 with three steals and two runs scored.
The Bulldogs return to action Saturday for the second game of the series against Pepperdine at 1 p.m.
