EUGENE, Ore. - The Fresno State bats came alive in game three as the Bulldogs beat Oregon 10-3. The Bulldogs had 10 hits while the Ducks had six hits. The Bulldogs improve to 3-4 on the season and went 1-2 against the Ducks over the weekend.

"The guys did a good job today. It took some good discipline and patience, that is what we've been missing," said head coach Mike Batesole. "We did a good job of slowing the game down, getting a head of the game and a head of the count. It got a lot simpler all of a sudden."

Starting on the mound for the Bulldogs was sophomore Jake Floethe. The righty threw a career-high 6.2 innings and struck out four Duck batters. Floethe sat down the Ducks in order in the first and fourth innings. After two starts Floethe picked up his first win and has a .69 ERA.

Oregon scored first with an unearned run to lead 1-0 at the bottom of the second inning.

The Bulldogs took their first lead of the weekend in the top of the third scoring six runs. Danny Muno hit a single to center driving in Dusty Robinson for the `Dogs first run of the afternoon. Muno and Senior Danny Grubb scored off a single from Alan Ahmady.

Preseason All-American Tom Mendonca hit a three-run home run giving the Bulldogs the 6-1 lead. Mendonca has 30 career home runs and the second home run at PK Park. Muno hit the first home run yesterday.

Robinson got the fourth inning going with a double to left field. A sacrifice bunt from Grubb advanced Robinson to third base. Freshman Kenny Wise hit a stand up double to right-center field driving in Robinson.

Muno singled and Wise scored on an error giving the Bulldogs the 8-1 lead. In the top of the sixth, inning the Ducks scored a run, but still trailed the `Dogs 8-2.

Freshman Taylor Garrison relieved Floethe in the seventh inning striking out two batters in 2.1 innings.

Mendonca hit a two-run home run, his second of the game, increasing the lead 10-2 in the top of the ninth. Mendonca hit 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs.

"It felt good. We did great out there," said Mendonca. "Floethe threw a great game, the defense stepped up and our offense came around. We are happy to walk out of here with a win."

In the bottom of the ninth inning the Ducks hit a solo home run, but it wasn't enough to close the gap as the Bulldogs won 10-3. The `Dogs face UC Davis on the road on March 4 at 2:30 p.m.
