Baseball Swept By Pepperdine

MALIBU, Calif. - Freshman Brandon Daguio went 2-for-3 with a single and home run in his collegiate debut to lead Pepperdine to a 3-1 victory over Fresno State Sunday at Eddy D. Field Stadium to complete a three-game sweep of the Bulldogs.
Daguio singled in his first at-bat in the second inning ahead of freshman Danny Kelly, who hit a sacrifice fly to drive home junior Chris Kelly with the Waves' first run. With Pepperdine leading 2-1 in the seventh inning, Daguio hit a leadoff home run over the left-centerfield fence to give the Waves a 3-1 lead.
The Waves won their fourth in a row t o improve to 7-4 while the Bulldogs fell to 4-10.
The Bulldogs struck first with an RBI single by sophomore infielder Kyle Atrat in the first inning for their lone run of the game. Junior infielder Ryan Haag went 2-for-5 with two singles and two stolen bases to lead the squad. Pepperdine junior right-hander Jacob Barrack (1-1) scattered a run on six hits while striking out six over six innings to earn his first victory of the year.
Waves sophomore Steve Kleen worked the final two innings to record his first career save.
Fresno State junior right-hander Cody Smith (1-2) went a team season high seven innings while allowing three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.
The Bulldogs return to action Tuesday when they play host to Cal Poly at 6:35 p.m. for the first of a 13-game homestand.
