FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team recorded a total of 20 hits in Saturday's double header against Oregon. The Ducks won both games by a score of, 8-4, and 5-2. Oregon leads the series, 3-0 and the Bulldogs are 5-5 on the season.

"We did some things very well and others not so well," said head coach Mike Batesole. "The reason we play a tough non-conference schedule is to test ourselves early and be ready for WAC play."

Right fielder Brennan Gowens has recorded a hit in the first 10 games of the season. He has the longest hitting streak on the team. Gowens went 4-for-7 against the Ducks today.

Third baseman Garrett Weber extended his hitting streak to eight games with a single in the first game and a double in the second game of the day.

Catcher Trent Garrison recorded his third home run of the season in the first game of the double header.

Game One

The Ducks jumped on the board first with three unearned runs in the first inning taking the lead, 3-0.

Gowens singled up the middle in the second inning. The sophomore stole second base.

Junior Jordan Ribera walked. The Bulldogs matched Oregon's three runs when Garrison hit a three-run home run to tie the game, 3-3.

Senior Matt Morse earned his third start of the 2010 season in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. In the third and sixth innings, the right-hander sat the batters down 1-2-3.

Morse threw six and third innings striking out two batters.

The Ducks scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning taking the lead, 6-3.

Fresno State answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning and the `Dogs trailed, 6-4.



Batesole brought lefty Tom Harlan out of the bullpen in the sixth inning. The sophomore retired the first two batters he faced.

Oregon scored a run in the eighth inning increasing their lead, 7-4. The Ducks added another run in the top of the ninth inning extending their lead, 8-4.

The Ducks won game two of the series, 8-4.

Game Two

Oregon took the lead in the second inning scoring two runs.

Sophomore Charlie Robertson made his first start of the season on the mound. The right-hander struck out the first two batters he faced and sat down the batters in order to retire the first inning.

Robertson also sat down the Oregon batters 1-2-3 in the third inning. He threw a career-high six and third innings.

The Bulldog defense turned their 12th double play of the season in the fourth inning and then retired the side by picking off the runner at second base.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, designated hitter Kenny Wise singled to right field. He advanced to third base on a throwing error by the Oregon pitcher. Pinch hitter Kaohu Gaspar hit a sacrifice fly to left field allowing Wise to score and the `Dogs trail, 2-1.

Oregon scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning increasing their lead, 5-1.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Garrison hit a single to center field. Junior Bobby Coyle hit a single to left field moving Garrison to second base. Weber hit an RBI single to right center field moving Coyle to third base and the `Dogs trail, 5-2.

The Ducks won the second game of the double header, 5-2.

The Bulldogs conclude the Oregon series tomorrow, March 7 at 1:05 p.m.
