LINCOLN, Neb. - The Fresno State baseball team earned its second victory over a nationally ranked team after defeating No. 29 Nebraska, 8-5. The Bulldogs knocked out 13 hits against the Huskers. The Dogs are 10-1 on the season after the win.

Designated hitter Kenny Wise was 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Four Bulldogs had a multiple hit game. Prior to this afternoon's game Nebraska ace Jon Keller had not allowed any runs and only one hit. The Bulldog offense scored six runs and tallied eight hits against Keller.

The pitching staff combined for seven strikeouts and allowed 13 hits.

The 4-5-6 Fresno State hitters each hit a double to spark a two run second inning. The Bulldog bats heated up again in the fourth inning recording five hits and four runs.

Nebraska scored first in the bottom half of the first inning taking a 1-0 lead.

The Huskers lead was short lived as the Bulldogs answered with two runs of their own in the second inning. Jordan Ribera led off the inning with a double to left field. Outfielder Dusty Robinson followed with an RBI double to left center field tying the game 1-1.

Wise doubled to right field allowing Robinson to score and giving the Dogs the lead 2-1 in the second inning.

The Huskers regained the lead in the bottom of the second inning scoring two runs on two hits and the Dogs trailed 3-2.

Friday starter Derek Benny struck out one Husker batter in his fourth start of the year. The righty has a 3-0 record on the mound in 2011.

In the fourth inning, Pat Hutcheson tied the game 3-3 with an RBI single through the left side. Senior Danny Muno drove in Wynns with a single to right field as the Bulldogs regained the lead 4-3. Junior Brennan Gowens doubled to center field clearing the bases and adding two more runs increasing the Fresno State's lead 6-3.



Taylor Garrison threw one and third innings of relief against the Huskers and struck out two batters. Garrison earned the win on the mound and improves to 2-0.

Nebraska chipped away at the Bulldogs lead by scoring a run in the fourth inning. After four innings the Dogs were ahead 6-4.

Ribera led off the fifth inning with a single through the right side. Wise recorded his third hit of the game with a double down the right field line. Kaohu Gaspar reached base on a fielder's choice as Ribera was tagged out at home. Wynns hit a base knock up the middle increasing the Dogs lead 7-4 over the Huskers.

Junior Josh Poytress threw two innings out of the bullpen. The lefty struck out one Nebraska batter.

The Huskers added a run in the fifth inning as the Bulldogs fielded their 12th double play of the season. Fresno State took a 7-5 lead into the sixth inning.

Cody Kendall struck out three batters in three and third innings of work.

Hutcheson made a spectacular defensive play in the seventh inning. The second baseman ran back and made a catch in shallow right field behind first base.

Weber led off the ninth inning with a triple to right field and scored on wild pitch as the Dogs led 8-5.

Charlie Robertson recorded his fifth save in as many appearances on the mound as the Bulldogs beat Nebraska 8-5.

"We Are Your Team!" The Bulldogs continue the series against the Huskers on Saturday, March 12 at 12:05 p.m. Fresno State returns home on March 17 hosting Washington State in the a four-game series at Beiden Field.
