    SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Fresno State baseball team earned their second mid week game win over Cal Poly, 10-9. The `Dogs are 11-10 on the season.

    The Bulldogs recorded 14 hits including three home runs and six doubles. Senior Steve Detwiler was one hit away from hitting for the cycle. It is the second game in a row that a Bulldog has come within one hit of the cycle.

    Junior Jordan Ribera continued his hitting streak to 11 games with a single in the eighth inning. He has gotten a hit in every game dating back to March 7 against Oregon. Ribera has the longest hitting streak on the team this season.

    The Fresno State pitching staff combined for 10 strikeouts. Matt Morse led the team with five strikeouts.

    Gowens hit two doubles against the Mustangs bringing his season total to 10, which is the most on the team.

    Junior Danny Muno led off the first inning and got the first hit of the game for the Bulldogs with a single to left field. Cal Poly scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning taking the lead, 4-0.

    In the second inning, designated hitter Bobby Coyle hit a solo home run over the right field wall as the `Dogs trail, 4-1. Coyle has three home runs on the season.

    Muno battled to a full count before hitting a single through the right side in the third inning. Gowens flew out in foul territory moving Muno to second base. Outfielder Dusty Robinson reached on an error advancing to third base. Ribera reached base on a fielder's choice allowing Muno to score cutting the Mustangs lead, 4-2.

    Sophomore Tom Harlan earned his first career start in the mid week game against Cal Poly. In the third inning the lefty sat the Mustang batters down in order. Harlan threw three innings striking out two Cal Poly batters.

     

     

    In the fourth innings, third baseman Garrett Weber led off with a double to left field. Weber advanced to third base on a balk by the Mustangs pitcher. Coyle hit a sacrifice fly to center field bringing home Weber and the Bulldogs trail, 4-3.

    The Mustangs scored two runs in the fourth inning increasing their lead, 6-3.

    Greg Gonzalez came into the game in relief in the fourth inning. The junior struck out the first Cal Poly batter he faced. The junior struck out three batters in two and two-thirds innings pitched.

    In the fifth inning, Ribera struck out swinging, but reached first base on a wild pitch. Catcher Trent Garrison worked a full count before hitting a ground rule double as Ribera advanced to third base. Weber singled through the left side bringing in two runs and the `Dogs trail, 6-5.

    Detwiler launched a solo home run over the left field wall tying the game, 6-6, in the sixth inning.

    Muno continued the inning with a stand up double to left field. Gowens walked. Robinson hit a three-run home run well over the left field fence giving the Bulldogs their first lead of the game, 9-6.

    Cal Poly scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Bulldogs lead, 9-8.

    Matt Morse took the mound in the sixth inning. The senior struck out two of three batters faced in the seventh inning. He threw three and third innings striking out a season-high five batters.

    In the eighth inning, Gowens hit his second double of the night to right center field. Ribera hit an RBI single to right field allowing Gowens to score extending the lead, 10-8.

    The Mustangs added a run in the bottom of the eighth inning trailing the Bulldogs, 10-9.

    Morse sat down the final three batters he faced in order to end the game with the Bulldogs winning, 10-9.
