FRESNO, Calif. - Senior pitcher Greg Gonzalez dealt seven scoreless innings and fanned 10 batters propelling the Fresno State baseball team to shutout San Diego, 6-0. The Bulldogs have an overall mark of 16-2.

Gonzalez silenced the Torero line up allowing only one hit in the first game of the series. The Dogs tallied eight hits and had three players with a multiple hit game. Senior Danny Muno was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, while outfielder Dusty Robinson and sophomore Austin Wynns also recorded two hits each.

"We came out to play tonight and you could see that in our offense and defense," said Muno. "Greg came out and threw great, like he always does. We played good defense behind a pitcher that was pitching really well tonight. We were working a ton of long counts and seeing a lot of pitches to help the guy behind us. We have a chance to come out tomorrow and take two more from a very good team. San Diego's record isn't as good as it should be, but they still have a great team and great pitching."

Gonzalez made his sixth start of the year on Friday night. The right-hander was perfect through three innings retiring the first nine batters he faced in order.

In the second inning, Robinson recorded the first hit of the game after hitting a double to left field.

Wynns opened the third inning with a base knock up the middle. Pat Hutcheson reached base on an error by the Torero second base man and Wynns advanced on the play. Muno singled through the left side to load the bases. Brennan Gowens worked the count to a walk driving in the first run of the game and the Dogs took a 1-0 lead.

Wynns caught a San Diego runner attempting to steal second base and then Gonzalez struck out the batter to retire the fifth inning.

In the fifth inning, Hutcheson led off with a single passed the short stop. Muno reached base after getting hit by a pitch. Gowens grounded out, but moved the Bulldog runners to ahead. The Dogs increased their to 2-0 after Garrett Weber executed a safety-squeeze allowing Hutcheson to score.

Robinson hit a single up the middle to start off the bottom of the sixth inning. Designated hitter Kenny Wise singled down the right field line advancing Robinson to third base. Freshman Aaron Judge was hit by a pitch putting Bulldog runners on every bag. Wynns knocked the first pitch to left field for a base hit that brought in two runs and the Dogs lead grew to 4-0.

The sixth inning continued with Muno hitting a single to center field allowing two more runs to score and gave the Dogs their biggest lead of the night 6-0 over San Diego.
