No. 9 Dogs Rally Past Dons

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 9 Fresno State baseball rallied past the University of San Francisco 4-3 on Saturday night. The Bulldogs scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to earn their ninth-straight win. The Dogs are 20-2 on the season and have a home record of 16-1.
Preseason All-WAC outfielder Dusty Robinson hit a single in the ninth inning that drove in the winning run. The Bulldogs scored two late inning runs with two outs to take the lead.
"You got to love it, man," said Robinson. "Everyone in the stand on their feet and a 2-0 count. Looking for something in the zone to drive. That is a situation you've got to love being in and produce for the team. We stayed in it the whole game, played a good nine innings and got the W."
Senior third baseman Danny Muno recorded three hits in four at-bats with two RBIs and double. Catcher Austin Wynns was also 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. Wynns is hitting .394 on the season.
"Everybody has been stepping up for the team, it's not just one person," said Robinson. "Whether it's the bats, pitching or defense, we're clicking. We tell ourselves everyday that we can do something special this year and we've got to take it one game at a time. We can't look to far ahead, just take care of San Francisco today and tomorrow."
Junior Brennan Gowens doubled to right field for the first hit of the game for the Bulldogs.
In his third start of the year, sophomore Justin Haley threw three scoreless innings before giving a run. The right-hander fanned three in five innings of work. Haley allowed two runs and two walks.
The scoreless tie was broken up in the top of the fourth inning. The Dons score two runs on a home run from Tom Barry giving San Francisco the lead 2-0.
Freshman Aaron Judge led off the walk in the bottom of the fifth inning. Wynns followed with a single through the left side as Judge advanced to second base. Junior Pat Hutcheson bunted the runners over to second and third base with his sixth sacrifice hit of the year. The second baseman leads the team in sacrifice hits. Muno hits a single to left field driving in a run as the Dogs trail USF 2-1.
Josh Poytress sat the San Francisco batters down 1-2-3 in the top of the sixth inning in his ninth appearance of the season. The junior struck out two of three batters he faced in the eighth inning.
The Dons scored one run in the top of the seventh inning increasing their lead 3-1. San Francisco threatened with a runner at third base, but the Dogs turned a pair to retire the inning.
In the seventh inning, Wynns led off with a base hit through the right side. Hutcheson singled to right field and Wynns advanced to third base. Muno drove in a run with a double to right center field and the Dogs trailed3-2.
Wynns led off with bottom of the ninth inning with a single to the first baseman. Daniel Moultrie pinch ran for Wynns. Muno singled through the left side moving the tying run to second base. Gowens grounded out, but the runners advanced to second and third base. Senior Garrett Weber walked to load the bases for the Bulldogs. Ribera walked bringing the tying run home.
Robinson drove in the game-winning run with a single to center field. The Dogs defeat the Dons 4-3 on Saturday night.
Junior Cody Kendall threw a third of an inning and earned his third win of the season.
