FRESNO, Calif. --- Offensive fireworks in the third inning proved to be enough for the Fresno State baseball team as the Bulldogs defeated the Pacific Tigers 4-3 on Tuesday night at Beiden Field.

Bulldogs' catcher Austin Wynns picked up the game's first hit with one out in the bottom of second. Jordan Brink followed up with the productive run-scoring out with a RBI sacrifice fly to left field to plate Wynns and give the 'Dogs the early 1-0 lead.

Fresno State (7-18) then scored its three other runs on three hits in the bottom of the third. The inning got started as Brody Russell singled sharply toward the third baseman and put himself into scoring position with back-to-back steals. Chris Mariscal then singled through the right side as he got the green light on a 3-0 count to put the 'Dogs up 2-0.

Taylor Tempel singled on the next at bat to keep the momentum going and put two on base for Aaron Judge.

Judge crushed a 0-2 offering for a double off the centerfield wall that drove in Mariscal for the RBI and advanced Tempel to third. Trent Garrison provided the game's fourth RBI with a line drive to second, the Tigers could not field it cleanly and allowed Tempel to put the 'Dogs up 4-0.

Russell had a game-high three stolen bases, going 3-for-3 - one stolen base shy of tying the Mountain West single-game record set by teammate Jordan Luplow on Opening Night. Russell entered Tuesday with just one stolen base this season.

The Bulldogs unloaded the bullpen for the midweek contest having seven different pitchers get live work.

Pacific (7-16) scored once in the fifth off Tim Borst and rallied for two in the ninth off Tyler Linehan, who struck out four in 1.2 innings to secure his first save this year. Blake Quinn (1-1) earned his first career Fresno State win with a scoreless inning of relief action.

Fresno State returns to Beiden Field when the Bulldogs start a three-game MW series with UNLV on Friday night at 6:35 p.m. PT.
